Mexican National Arrested in Texas Over 2020 Georgetown Bathtub Homicide After Alleged Reentry

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested 41-year-old Hernan Perez Juarez in Temple, Texas, on a murder charge tied to the May 8, 2020 death of a woman found in a Georgetown bathtub.

ICE says Perez Juarez was deported in 2018 and allegedly reentered the U.S. before the killing; his vehicle was later found abandoned in Laredo.

An arrest warrant issued in March 2022 stalled when his location was unknown; an Austin-based task force located him this month and he is now held in Williamson County with an ICE detainer.

Mexican National Arrested in Texas Over 2020 Georgetown Bathtub Homicide After Alleged Reentry

The U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force in Texas arrested a Mexican national Monday who is wanted in connection with a 2020 homicide in Georgetown, authorities said.

Hernan Perez Juarez, also known as "Patricio Perez," 41, has been charged with murder in the death of a woman found in her Georgetown, Texas, bathtub on May 8, 2020. The victim had suffered a deep laceration to her lower abdomen.

According to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), Perez Juarez was deported in 2018 for an immigration violation and did not have legal status in the United States. Authorities say he allegedly reentered the country before the killing; investigators later found his vehicle abandoned in Laredo near the international border with Mexico.

In March 2022 the Georgetown Police Department obtained an arrest warrant for Perez Juarez, but the investigation stalled when his whereabouts became unknown. An Austin-based task force located him earlier this month, which led to his arrest in Temple, Texas.

After his arrest he was transported to the Williamson County Jail to await further judicial proceedings. ICE has lodged an immigration detainer that will remain in effect following county court action. The Department of Homeland Security did not immediately respond to requests for comment.

Note: Perez Juarez is charged with murder; the allegations have not been proven in court.
