What happened
Video from the scene shows the bus striking a curb, mounting the sidewalk and striking parked and moving vehicles as passengers screamed. Witnesses say the vehicle sped uncontrollably for nearly a minute while the driver struggled to steer. The bus finally came to a stop when it crashed into the security gate of a condominium close to the highway.
Casualties and damage
Officials reported that about 13 people were injured. A preliminary breakdown listed two people seriously hurt, two with moderate injuries and several others with minor injuries. The bus struck roughly 15 cars and two motorcycles during the incident, with the uncontrolled run estimated at around 10 mph.
Response and investigation
