At least nine people were killed and 32 injured when seized explosive materials detonated at the Nowgam police station in Kashmir shortly before midnight on Friday.
Regional DGP Nalin Prabhat called the blast a "very unfortunate" incident and discouraged speculation while Lt. Gov. Manoj Sinha ordered a formal inquiry.
The materials — about 6,000 pounds of explosives and other weapons — were seized in Faridabad during an investigation into a New Delhi car bombing and have been linked to Jaish-e-Mohammed; six suspects were arrested in that raid.
