MLB spring training begins Feb. 20
Major League Baseball will open spring training on Feb. 20 with seven games, headlined by the New York Yankees facing the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota, Florida, and the Chicago Cubs squaring off with the Chicago White Sox in Mesa, Arizona.
The league's opening-day slate also includes Arizona vs. Colorado, San Diego vs. Seattle and Kansas City vs. Texas, plus college tune-ups: Boston vs. Northeastern University and the Minnesota Twins vs. the University of Minnesota.
World Series champion Los Angeles Dodgers begin their spring schedule on Feb. 21 against the Los Angeles Angels in Tempe, Arizona.
World Baseball Classic tune-ups and special events
On March 3–4, 14 games will feature MLB clubs facing national teams preparing for the World Baseball Classic. The United States national team is scheduled to play at the San Francisco Giants on March 3 and at the Colorado Rockies on March 4 — both contests will take place at spring-training ballparks in Scottsdale.
The third annual Spring Breakout, showcasing games between top prospects, is set for March 19–22.
Las Vegas, exhibition games and regular-season tune-ups
The Oakland Athletics and Los Angeles Angels will meet in Las Vegas on March 7–8. The A's also have six regular-season games scheduled in Las Vegas from June 8–14 as part of the club's long-term plan to relocate there for the 2028 season.
In advance of the regular-season opener at Oracle Park in San Francisco on March 25, the Yankees will play exhibitions at the Cubs on March 23–24. The Detroit Tigers will also play at the Cubs those same days as a tune-up for their March 26 opener at San Diego.
Exhibition matchups hosted at regular-season ballparks from March 22–24 include the Freeway Series between the Dodgers and Angels, a two-game Orioles-Nationals series, a Royals series at Texas, a Cleveland series at the Arizona Diamondbacks and a Cincinnati series at Milwaukee.
