Viral Video Shows 63-Year-Old Stomped After Fender-Bender — Four Held On $250,000 Cash-Only Bonds

Four people will remain jailed on $250,000 cash-only bonds after a viral video captured the brutal beating of 63-year-old Lance Jeffries following a Sept. 19 fender-bender in Jennings, Missouri. The footage, combined with investigative leads, helped police identify and arrest the suspects on Sept. 23.
Incident Overview
The confrontation began around 4:45 p.m. when Jeffries rear-ended a Ford Escape that was stopped waiting to turn from Jennings Station Road onto Shannon Avenue. According to St. Louis County Police, three people were inside the Escape at the time and a fourth arrived shortly after the collision.
Assault Details
Police say Davion Alfred approached Jeffries and punched him, knocking him to the ground. Video evidence shows the four defendants — Alfred, Mary Moore, Martinez Logan and Tamara Logan — repeatedly punching, kicking, stomping and dragging Jeffries while he lay unconscious on the pavement. Investigators say Alfred took Jeffries' keys and wallet and that members of the group later entered his vehicle and removed bags of donated items; investigators later determined $100 was missing from his wallet.
Response, Arrests and Statements
Responding officers initially treated the scene as a traffic crash. Because Jeffries was unable to speak, he was transported to a hospital; police say other participants and bystanders did not report the assault at that time. A bystander's video later circulated on social media and, together with tips and other evidence, helped identify the four suspects. All four were arrested on Sept. 23.
Charges and Court Proceedings
Each defendant faces multiple charges, including second-degree robbery, third-degree assault involving a special victim and second-degree burglary for unlawful entry into a motor vehicle. Prosecutors urged that the defendants remain jailed on $250,000 cash-only bonds, calling them:
"a danger to the community." — St. Louis County Prosecutor Melissa Price Smith
Three defendants waived bond hearings; Davion Alfred, representing himself, asked for a bond reduction but was denied after prosecutors argued he posed a flight and public-safety risk.
Victim Status and Next Steps
Jeffries was hospitalized for nearly two weeks and has since been released to recover at home. A preliminary hearing for the defendants is scheduled for Oct. 21. If convicted and given maximum sentences, each defendant could face up to 29 years in Missouri Department of Corrections custody. The charges are allegations and the defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty.
Note: Media footage and statements were used by investigators to build probable-cause statements; police say the defendants gave statements after being shown the video describing their individual actions during the assault.
