The U.S. Coast Guard is searching waters near Nantucket for a Gulfstream G‑100 medical transfer plane with six people aboard after the FAA lost contact around 2:00 a.m. while it flew from Bermuda to Boston. Search operations with aircraft and vessels are concentrated around Nantucket, and officials reported no new updates as of 10:30 a.m. A source told ABC News there were no Americans aboard, and investigators say the aircraft appeared to descend about 7,500 feet rapidly before hitting the water. Authorities continue search-and-rescue and investigative efforts.

The U.S. Coast Guard is conducting an active search off the coast of Massachusetts after a Gulfstream G‑100 medical transfer aircraft with six people on board lost contact early Saturday morning, officials said.

According to the Coast Guard, the Federal Aviation Administration reported it lost contact with the aircraft at about 2:00 a.m. while the flight was en route from Bermuda to Boston. Search efforts are focused in the waters around Nantucket and involve both Coast Guard aircraft and vessels.

What Officials Say

A source familiar with the investigation told ABC News that there were no Americans aboard the flight. Officials believe the aircraft experienced a rapid descent of roughly 7,500 feet before striking the water, though investigators are still working to confirm details and determine the cause.

The Coast Guard said there were no immediate updates as of 10:30 a.m. Saturday. Search-and-rescue teams remain on scene and the investigation is ongoing; authorities have urged the public to avoid speculation until official findings are released.
