The Food and Drug Administration says a nationwide recall of frozen pasta sold at Walmart under the Bettergoods brand has been expanded after routine testing detected Listeria monocytogenes. Product Affected: Bettergoods Frozen Authentic Italian Lemon Alfredo Fettuccine, 22-ounce (UPC 194346442706). The product is packaged in yellow plastic containers with expiration dates printed on the back and was sold at Walmart stores nationwide.

What Consumers Should Do

Health Risks and Symptoms

Listeria is a bacterium that can cause listeriosis, a serious foodborne illness that poses the greatest risk to older adults (65+), pregnant people, newborns and people with weakened immune systems. Symptoms may begin within hours to weeks after exposure; common signs include:

  • Fever and muscle aches
  • Headache, stiff neck, confusion
  • Loss of balance or convulsions
  • Diarrhea and other gastrointestinal symptoms
  • In pregnant people: miscarriage, stillbirth, premature delivery or life-threatening infection in newborns

People in high-risk groups who develop flu-like symptoms within two months of eating a potentially contaminated product should seek medical attention promptly.
