Toni Marie Reed posted a TikTok alleging that Fogo de Chão called police on her party during her daughter’s 12th birthday after numerous service failures. Reed says 18 guests — including children, a pregnant woman and a newborn — experienced slow service and an allegedly reheated, cold lobster mac and cheese. Reed claims a manager said officers were called to prevent diners from "running out," and her daughter left crying after passing uniformed police. The post drew over 8,000 comments and divided reactions; Fogo de Chão has not publicly responded.

A woman claims staff at national steakhouse chain Fogo de Chão called police on her party while celebrating her daughter’s 12th birthday, leaving the child upset and prompting a social media outcry.

Toni Marie Reed posted a video on TikTok recounting the dinner. Reed says 18 people attended the celebration — including children, a pregnant guest and a newborn — and that the meal was marred by repeated service problems. She alleges a lobster mac and cheese arrived cold, was sent back, then reheated and returned rather than being replaced with a fresh plate. Reed also said the server did not ensure reheated plates reached the correct diners.

According to Reed, the group endured long waits for food, an ignored request for water and a wrongly prepared entree for her daughter after a lengthy delay. Reed says her party asked that items be removed from the bill rather than escalate the situation. "Nobody was yelling, nobody was cussing anybody out. Nobody said we weren't going to pay," she said in the video.

Reed alleges that while they were waiting for the bill, she noticed police officers standing at the restaurant entrance. When she asked a manager why the officers had been summoned, she says the manager replied it was to make sure no one would "run out." Reed challenged that explanation, saying her party had no intention of leaving without paying and that they were still waiting for the check to be corrected.

Reed quoted the manager as saying officers were present to ensure no one would "run out." Reed responded: "We never tried to leave. We never refused to pay. We literally stayed there waiting for them to fix our check."

Reed described her daughter as "shaken" after having to walk past uniformed officers while leaving her own birthday dinner; Reed said the child cried in the car and told her she did not want to return to the restaurant. Reed closed her video demanding a prompt explanation from Fogo de Chão: "Bad service I can complain about and move forward, but calling the police on my family when we gave you absolutely no reason to believe we were going to leave without paying? No, I want an explanation ASAP."

The TikTok drew more than 8,000 comments and a sharply divided response. Some viewers supported Reed’s account, while others — including at least one former server — suggested there might be missing context. Several commenters raised the possibility of racial profiling after Reed noted the table was composed of Black diners.

The Mary Sue reached out to both Reed and Fogo de Chão for comment. As of this report, Fogo de Chão has not issued a public response.
