Israel's Defense Minister Israel Katz announced on X (formerly Twitter) that the IDF and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency) conducted a joint operation in the Khan Yunis area of southern Gaza that killed Muhammad Abu Alwan, whom Israeli officials identified as Hamas's finance department chief.
Katz praised the operation as "precise" and credited the security forces for efforts to disrupt Hamas's leadership and funding networks. In his post he said:
