Sen. Elizabeth Warren said grassroots organizing can overcome record anonymous spending ahead of the November 3, 2026 midterms, citing a New York Times estimate that roughly $1 billion in dark money has shaped this cycle. She pointed to Abdul El‑Sayed’s narrow Michigan primary win as proof that local mobilization can beat big spending. Prediction market Polymarket now prices a 61% chance Democrats reclaim both chambers, with the House heavily favored and the Senate remaining competitive.

Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D‑Mass.) on Sunday pushed back against the growing influence of anonymous campaign spending and expressed confidence that grassroots organizing can carry Democrats to victory in the November midterms.

"Dark money groups are pouring record sums into our elections. But the 2026 primaries have shown that when people organize and show up, billionaires don't get to decide who wins. Grassroots power still matters. And we will in November." — Elizabeth Warren (@ewarren), September 20, 2026

A New York Times analysis of advertising data, filings and tax records found that roughly $1 billion in anonymous funds has shaped the 2026 races and that secret funding has influenced or is expected to influence "every major primary and battleground race." Warren highlighted those findings while noting that recent primary upsets demonstrate the continuing power of organized voters.

Grassroots Upset In Michigan

One high-profile example is Abdul El‑Sayed, who narrowly won the Michigan Democratic Senate primary, defeating Rep. Haley Stevens (D‑MI) by under one percentage point. Reports said El‑Sayed’s campaign drove record turnout, mobilized roughly 12,000 volunteers and overcame more than $60 million in opposition spending.

Targets Of Dark Money

Warren has publicly criticized well-funded groups tied to artificial intelligence, cryptocurrency interests and the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC) for spending millions to influence who represents voters in Congress. She framed those efforts as a reminder that accountability and voter engagement remain crucial.

What The Markets Say

Prediction markets also show growing confidence in a Democratic comeback. Polygon‑based Polymarket currently prices a 61% chance that Democrats will take control of both the House and the Senate, up from about 49% a month earlier. Within that, Polymarket shows Democrats with roughly 91% odds to win the House and a closer, roughly 61% probability to flip the Senate. (Republicans currently control both chambers.)

The midterm elections are scheduled for November 3, 2026. While prediction markets and primary results provide signals, actual outcomes will depend on turnout, late spending, and shifting campaign dynamics in the months ahead.
