Who’s Standing in the Holborn and St Pancras By-Election? Candidates Confirmed Ahead of 8 October Vote

The Holborn and St Pancras by-election is scheduled for 8 October, following the announcement that former prime minister Sir Keir Starmer is standing down to focus on a role in international affairs. Several candidates have already declared and more may be confirmed before the nomination deadline.

Declared Candidates (Alphabetical)

• Sagal Abdi-Wali (Labour) — Leader of Camden Council since May. Abdi-Wali has served as a councillor for the Camden Square ward since 2022 and is standing as the Labour candidate for the seat vacated by Sir Keir Starmer.
• Zack Polanski (Green Party) — Selected as the Green Party candidate. Polanski has been leader of the Green Party of England and Wales since September 2025 and has served as a member of the London Assembly since May 2021; he was deputy leader of the Greens from 2022 to 2025.
• Ewan Cameron (Conservative) — Standing for the Conservative Party. Cameron previously served as a Camden councillor from 1998 to 2002, including roles as vice-chair for licensing and lead member on the development control committee.

Nomination Deadline: Tuesday 15 September at 16:00 BST. Electoral rules and the official timetable are set by the Electoral Commission. Additional candidates may still be announced before nominations close.
