Moreno Frames Decision As Personal, Not Political
Speaking on Politico's Playbook podcast, Moreno said he is approaching the situation as a father, not as a political actor. "For me, this is — I don't see this through the lens of politics. I see this through a lens of a dad who sees enormous pain in his daughter, who sees enormous pain in his wife, that to me, that's untenable," he said. Moreno added that he hopes Miller will "get the help he needs" and eventually be a responsible presence in his granddaughter's life, while maintaining that his daughter should retain primary parenting responsibility.

Responses From Republican Leaders
Reactions among House Republicans have been mixed. On CBS's Face The Nation, Rep. Lisa McClain (R-Mich.), chair of the House Republican Conference, said she continues to support Miller, citing party unity and a focus on retaking the House: "I support anybody with an 'R' behind their name. I hope when all of this comes out that it's not true. But at the end of the day, we have to let the process play out."
House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) called Miller "a great member of Congress," while other Republicans — including Jon Husted and Sen. Tim Sheehy (R-Mont.) — have withdrawn their public support.
Allegations And Status
Emily Miller has accused her ex-husband of multiple violent acts, including pointing a gun at her head, throwing scalding water on her, pushing her into a wall, and physically harming their toddler, who she says suffered a fractured collarbone. Rep. Max Miller has denied any wrongdoing. He remains on the ballot for Ohio's 7th Congressional District.
