Charlotte Man Arrested After Social Media Videos Appearing To Show Unprovoked Sidewalk Assault

Charlotte, N.C. — The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department arrested 32-year-old Di-Quan Schafar Hunt after detectives linked videos on a social media account to an alleged July 30 sidewalk assault in the 400 block of East Boulevard, CMPD said.
Investigators reviewed footage posted to the account and determined one clip appears to show a woman being chased until she takes cover behind a parked vehicle. In another clip, the person filming approaches a woman; the camera then jerks and an apparent punch is heard. The footage shows the woman on the ground as the person behind the camera continues to taunt her and appears to strike her again.
The victim was transported to a local hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police said. After officers were shown the social media account during an attempt-to-locate response, Hunt was taken to a nearby medical facility for treatment and, upon release, is expected to be transferred to the Mecklenburg County Sheriff’s Office to face charges, including assault with a deadly weapon.
