Senator Bernie Moreno said "I don't know" when asked whether Rep. Max Miller should remain on the ballot after allegations of domestic violence from Moreno's daughter surfaced during divorce proceedings. A spokesperson for Moreno declined to comment on active family litigation and called the claims politically motivated. The New York Times report details serious allegations that Miller denies; Miller has filed a defamation suit. The dispute has spilled into public social-media attacks and involves separate accusations from Stephanie Grisham.

Senator Bernie Moreno (R-Ohio) has declined to take a definitive public position on whether Representative Max Miller should remain on the ballot as Miller faces serious abuse allegations from Moreno's daughter amid ongoing divorce litigation.

NOTUS reporter Adora Brown asked Moreno whether Miller is fit to run for reelection. Moreno replied,

"I don't know."

A spokesperson for the senator, Reagan McCarthy, told NOTUS that Moreno "will not speak on active litigation involving his family" and described the accusations as "baseless attacks by Democrats and their media allies."

Allegations And Responses

According to a recent New York Times report, Emily Moreno has accused Max Miller of several violent acts, including "scalding her chest and stomach by throwing hot water from a skillet at her body; held a gun to her head; pushed her against a wall and hit her head; and fractured their daughter's collarbone and bruised her shoulder." These claims are part of divorce-related court filings and media reporting.

Miller has strongly denied the allegations and has filed a defamation lawsuit against his ex-wife. The dispute has become public and acrimonious: in May, Miller posted on social media criticizing Senator Moreno and accusing him of enabling his daughter's allegations. Miller wrote that Moreno's actions were distracting and harmful to his grandchild.

Other Related Claims

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham — who says she dated Miller in 2019 and 2020 while both worked in the Trump orbit — has also accused Miller of domestic abuse. Those claims have spawned additional legal disputes between Grisham and Miller.

Political Stakes

Miller is running a competitive reelection campaign in Ohio, a state that has become a major battleground this cycle for both Senate and gubernatorial contests. The allegations and the family's public dispute add pressure to a close race and have drawn national attention.

What to keep in mind: These are allegations reported in court filings and by news outlets. Miller denies the accusations and has pursued legal action. Senator Moreno has declined to comment further while litigation remains active.
