Hundreds of Teen E-Bikers Swarm Downtown Orlando, Block Ambulance — Police Crack Down

Hundreds of teenagers riding electric bicycles converged on parts of downtown Orlando, creating significant safety hazards as groups rode en masse and repeatedly violated traffic laws.
Video posted by the Orlando Police Department and shared on social media stitches together multiple clips that appear to have been recorded on July 18. The footage shows large groups of riders obstructing intersections, weaving between cars, performing wheelies, and running red lights across several locations.
Ambulance Blocked, Officers Intervene
In one scene, an ambulance responding to an emergency is forced to stop because riders failed to yield at an intersection; a police SUV is visible directly behind the stalled emergency vehicle. Officers moved in as the situation became increasingly chaotic, and several riders were detained or arrested.
One clip highlights a bike-mounted officer who enters the crowd, quickly catching and arresting two e-bike riders while dozens of others continued past or watched from nearby. Authorities have not disclosed exact totals for arrests, citations or towed bikes.
Downtown Orlando is for everyone to enjoy, including kids and families. Come out, have fun, and make good memories, but not like this. Reckless riding, running red lights, blocking traffic, and blocking an ambulance and other emergency vehicles from responding puts everyone at risk, including the riders themselves. This type of dangerous behavior will not be tolerated. Orlando Police officers will continue enforcing the law to help keep Downtown safe for everyone.
Local reporting from FOX 35 Orlando states that several juveniles were detained, criminal citations were issued, and some e-bikes were confiscated and towed after officers determined those bikes were not properly registered under state law. Detained riders were later released to parents or guardians.
What remains unclear: While police said hundreds of teenagers participated, officials did not reveal how many riders were ultimately arrested, cited, or had their e-bikes impounded. A police spokesperson noted that, because of the group's size and mobility, officers took enforcement action only when it could be done safely.
