Cruise missile strike hit a factory in Voronezh, injuring three people and causing heavy damage, regional governor Alexander Gusev said. Ukraine's General Staff confirmed the plant produced electronic components for missile systems and said the attack reduced Russia's missile production capacity. Officials reported air-launched cruise missiles were used; Russian air defences said they shot down several targets. Voronezh is about 180 km from the Ukrainian border.

A cruise missile strike damaged a factory in the south-western Russian city of Voronezh on Monday, injuring three people, regional governor Alexander Gusev said in a Telegram post.

Ukraine's General Staff later confirmed the attack, saying the facility produced electronic components used in missile systems and that the lost production capacity "significantly worsens Russia's ability to produce new missiles." Images shared on social media show severe destruction at the site, though independent verification of all images is pending.

What Officials Say

Ukrainian sources reported that air-launched cruise missiles were used — weapons fired from aircraft — and noted that Kyiv possesses British-made Storm Shadow missiles. Russian authorities said air defences intercepted and destroyed several "flying high-speed targets" over Voronezh.

Governor Gusev confirmed three injuries, including one person in serious condition, and acknowledged damage to the company's production halls as well as nearby apartment buildings and vehicles. He did not name the firm affected.

Context

Voronezh lies just over 180 kilometres from the Ukrainian border. Since the full-scale invasion that began in February 2022, Ukrainian forces have increasingly targeted strategically significant sites in Russia's rear areas. This incident underscores the growing reach of strikes and the ongoing tactical focus on disrupting military production and logistics.
