Man Arrested 22 Years After Teenager Tyrone Clarke Was Fatally Stabbed In Leeds

A man has been arrested in connection with the 2004 killing of 16-year-old Tyrone Clarke in Leeds, West Yorkshire Police announced on Sunday.

The attack occurred on 22 April 2004 in the Beeston area, where Tyrone was chased into Brett Gardens and fatally stabbed. During the assault he was reportedly attacked by a group of around 20 people and suffered further blows from weapons including metal poles and wooden planks; CS spray was also used. In 2005 three men and a 17-year-old were convicted and jailed in relation to the case.

West Yorkshire Police said a further arrest has been made as part of an ongoing inquiry and that a man is being held in custody while inquiries continue.

Family Appeal

Tyrone's mother, Lorraine Fraser, told the BBC she is exhausted by having to press for answers more than two decades after her son's death. In an emotional appeal she asked anyone with information to come forward.

"I want to get on with my life as much as I can. I don't want this anymore but I feel like I have to carry on for my son," Fraser said. "My son was brutally murdered, and I've had to live with that for 22 years. I would appeal to anyone with any information, please come forward, put me out of my misery. I'm getting older now. I'm not as young as I was. I've got a broken heart."

Paying tribute to Tyrone, she added: "We had the best relationship. He used to torment the life out of me. He was a good son. I miss him terribly."

Police inquiries into the 2004 murder have continued over the years. The recent arrest represents a further development in the long-running investigation, and officers continue to appeal to the public for any information that could assist the case.
