Nexgrill has recalled about 10.2 million metal-bristle grill brushes after the CPSC warned that loose bristles can detach and stick to grills or food, posing an ingestion and injury risk. The agency reported 68 incidents, including five cases where swallowed bristles required medical removal. The recall covers six model numbers sold at Home Depot from 2015–2025 (priced $5–$15); owners should stop using affected brushes and register for a refund issued as a Nexgrill gift card.
Nexgrill Recalls About 10.2 Million Metal-Bristle Grill Brushes After Reports of Swallowed Bristles

Grill maker Nexgrill has recalled roughly 10.2 million metal wire-bristle grill brushes after federal safety officials warned that small metal bristles can detach, stick to cooking grates or food, and pose an ingestion hazard that can cause serious internal injury.
What Happened
On March 26, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced the recall, saying Nexgrill is aware of at least 68 incidents in which small wire bristles separated from the brushes. The CPSC reported five cases in which consumers swallowed metal bristles and required medical treatment to remove them from the throat or digestive tract.
Which Products Are Affected
The recall covers six metal wire-bristle brush models with black plastic or wood handles, measuring 18 to 21 inches long. Affected model numbers are: 530-0024, 530-0024G, 530-0034, 530-0039, 530-0041 and 530-0042. According to the CPSC, the brushes were sold at Home Depot stores and on the retailer's website from 2015 through 2025 for about $5 to $15.
What Consumers Should Do
- Stop using any brush that matches the affected model numbers immediately.
- If you suspect a bristle has been swallowed or is lodged in the throat, seek medical attention promptly.
- Contact Nexgrill to register for a full refund, which will be issued as a Nexgrill gift card.
Recall Registration Details
As part of the recall process, consumers will receive a registration code and will be asked to upload a photograph of the brush and provide their initials on the recall website to complete the claim. Nexgrill is coordinating the refund process and the CPSC has posted details on the recall advisory.
