Six people, including a five-year-old, were injured when a small explosive device was thrown into a Grenoble beauty salon on Feb. 6. Victims were treated at the scene and did not require hospitalization. A video circulating on social media appears to show a masked person tossing an object inside the shop before fleeing; prosecutors say the device seemed intended to intimidate. No arrests have been announced and investigators have appealed for witnesses to come forward.

Six people, including a five-year-old child, were injured when a small explosive device was thrown into a beauty salon in downtown Grenoble, France, on Friday, Feb. 6, authorities and local media reported.

What Happened

The incident occurred at about 2:45 p.m. local time in the southeastern city, according to the regional broadcaster France 3. The National Police confirmed six people were wounded; the Isère Prefecture said none required hospital admission and that victims were treated at the scene.

"I heard a huge explosion and three young girls screaming; they were accompanied by a child," a nearby shop owner told France 3. "I quickly got outside; it looked like a huge car accident. Now I can't even see the street because there are so many fire trucks and people. It's complete chaos."

Video And Investigation

Hours after the attack, a video circulated on social media that appears to show a masked individual attempting to force entry into the salon, then throwing an object onto the shop floor before fleeing alongside the person filming. Prosecutors in Grenoble described the device as 'small' and said investigators currently believe it was likely intended to intimidate rather than to inflict mass casualties.

Emergency services responded with multiple fire engines and police units, and the area was cordoned off while investigators worked on-site. As of the latest reports, no arrests have been made. Authorities have appealed for anyone with information or additional footage to come forward to assist the inquiry.

Ongoing Developments

Local and national authorities continue to investigate motive and seek to identify the people seen in the footage. Officials have not released additional details about the victims' conditions beyond confirming they were treated on site.
