One Dead, Several Injured After Suspected Drunk Driver Plows Into Kayenta Christmas Parade Crowd

One person was killed and several others were injured when a suspected drunk driver drove into bystanders gathered for the Kayenta Light Parade in Kayenta, Arizona, just before the procession was set to begin.

Navajo Nation police said the crash occurred on Monday as spectators waited for the event to start. Officers arrested the driver at the scene, but authorities have not publicly identified the suspect as investigations continue.

Navajo Nation President Buu Nygren, in a statement dated Dec. 22, said that "three people were struck by a vehicle," and that the victims included "a young person in critical condition and a pregnant woman."
