What Happened
The Brockton Police Department responded to a 911 report of a shooting outside the Chipotle at about 7:00 p.m. on March 22. Emergency crews found a 15-year-old boy and an 18-year-old woman suffering from gunshot wounds. Both victims were transported to area hospitals; the 15-year-old died at Good Samaritan Hospital, and the 18-year-old later died after being flown to Massachusetts General Hospital.
Suspect, Charges and Description
The U.S. Marshals Service and detectives from the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office and Brockton Police say the investigation identified Davinci Leonard as the suspected shooter. Leonard, 23, faces two counts of first-degree murder and multiple firearms-related charges, including carrying a firearm without a license, carrying a loaded firearm without a license, possession of ammunition without a firearm identification card, and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling.
Authorities describe Leonard as a Black male about 5 ft 9 in tall and roughly 140 lbs. The U.S. Marshals added that he is believed to have altered his appearance by cutting his hair and should be considered armed and dangerous. A warrant for his arrest has been issued by Plymouth Superior Court, with authorization for nationwide extradition.
