House Democrats released new photographs from Jeffrey Epstein's estate that include Bill Gates and Sergey Brin. The documents were made public ahead of a Dec. 19 Justice Department disclosure deadline under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. Committee officials stressed that appearing in the images does not imply wrongdoing; many photos look like conference or public-event settings. Gates has previously acknowledged regretting his association with Epstein, and several other tech and media figures appear in the newly released images.

House Democrats on the House Oversight Committee on Thursday published another batch of photographs obtained from Jeffrey Epstein's estate. The packet includes images that appear to show tech figures Bill Gates and Google cofounder Sergey Brin among other business and media leaders.

Context and timing: The latest release arrives ahead of a Dec. 19 deadline for the Justice Department to disclose related materials under the Epstein Files Transparency Act. The committee said the photos were among documents it subpoenaed from Epstein’s estate earlier this year.

What the photos show: Several images look as though they were taken at conference-style gatherings or public dinners attended by multiple prominent figures. In at least two photos, Bill Gates appears beside a woman whose face has been redacted; the committee did not identify when or where those shots were taken or the identities of the women pictured. Sergey Brin appears in multiple images that resemble scenes from events organized by The Edge, an ideas-focused conference series that Epstein also attended.

Important caveat: Committee officials emphasized that appearing in these photos is not evidence of wrongdoing. Many images appear to be social or conference settings in which numerous business leaders were present.

Background on Epstein and prior links: Jeffrey Epstein died by suicide in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on sex‑trafficking charges; he had pleaded guilty to a separate sexual offense in 2008. At his death, investigators estimated he had amassed more than $600 million in assets. Epstein maintained connections with a range of powerful figures over the years, including politicians and business leaders.

Details related to Gates: Gates’s meetings with Epstein have been public for years; Gates has said those meetings were about philanthropy and has admitted that associating with Epstein was a "mistake in judgment." Epstein once attempted to set up a philanthropic vehicle funded by Gates and hosted at JPMorgan Chase, a plan that never advanced. Epstein also named Boris Nikolic, a former Gates advisor, as a backup executor of his estate. A spokesperson for Gates did not immediately respond to a request for comment about the newly released photos.

Details related to Brin and others: Records show Epstein referred Sergey Brin to JPMorgan Chase in 2004 and later connected Brin with bank personnel for tax advice. Several photos of Brin appear to be from The Edge events. In one image, Brin appears with New York Times columnist David Brooks in the foreground. A spokesperson for Brooks said he attended a 2011 event "to speak with noted and important business leaders to inform his columns" and that he had no further contact with Epstein related to that appearance. Salar Kamangar, an early Google employee and former YouTube CEO, is also pictured at the same event in the committee's release.

Responses and next steps: Representatives for Gates, Brin, Kamangar and Google did not immediately respond to requests for comment. The Oversight Committee's disclosure is the latest in a series of public document releases related to Epstein; the Justice Department’s impending disclosures may add more context when published by the Dec. 19 deadline.

Note: Inclusion in committee-released photos shows presence, not guilt. The committee has not alleged wrongdoing by those pictured solely based on these images.
