Firefighters in Jerusalem on Monday rescued a 15-year-old who spent seven hours dangling from a construction crane 36 stories above the city.

The boy told rescuers he climbed the crane around midnight to "see the view," according to the Israel Fire and Rescue Service. Video circulating online showed him perched on a narrow platform where metal cables meet the crane's hook, suspended above a nearby high-rise building.

A passerby spotted the teenager and alerted emergency services. Crews arrived at dawn, scaled the crane and brought him down to safety, officials said. Authorities described the outcome as "a miracle."

Officials' warning and context

Eyal Cohen, a fire official, said the episode was one of several recent incidents in which youths in the city have been caught scaling tall buildings and construction equipment. Authorities urged parents and teenagers to avoid climbing cranes, scaffolding or rooftops because of the extreme risk of falls and other hazards.

No immediate details were released about injuries or legal consequences. Emergency teams praised the passerby whose timely alert helped prompt the rescue.
