Oklahoma Toddler Mauled to Death by Family Dog; Parents Arrested on Murder Complaints

The parents of a 2-year-old Oklahoma girl have been arrested on complaints of second-degree murder after investigators say the child was fatally mauled by one of the family's dogs.

Officers responded to a welfare check shortly after 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 18 at a home in the 1500 block of Northeast 26th Street in Oklahoma City and found the child, identified as Locklynn McGuire, deceased inside the residence.

Staff Sergeant Dillon Quirk of the Oklahoma City Police Department said detectives from the Crimes Against Children unit determined Locklynn had been left in a room with one of the family’s four dogs and suffered fatal injuries. Investigators say the child was alone with the animal for a "substantial period of time" before she was discovered.

Authorities arrested Locklynn’s parents, Jordan McGuire, 34, and Darci Lambert, 24, on complaints of second-degree murder on Nov. 21 as a result of that investigation. The department has said the probe into the circumstances surrounding the toddler’s death is ongoing as detectives collect additional evidence and interview witnesses.

Relatives have launched a GoFundMe to help cover funeral and memorial expenses. The fundraiser describes Locklynn as a bright, joyful child who deeply loved and was deeply loved by her family.

"Locklynn was pure light. She was curious, gentle, and full of joy — the kind of little girl whose smile could brighten even the hardest day. Losing her in such a heartbreaking and unexpected way has left our entire family shattered."

The Oklahoma City Police Department continues to ask anyone with information related to the case to contact detectives. No further details have been released while the investigation is active.
