Kettering tennis courts and pavilion refurbished
A renovation at the Northampton Road Pavilion in Kettering is complete after receiving a grant of nearly £70,000. The project resurfaced four outdoor tennis courts, installed new spectator seating and refurbished the pavilion's community room to improve accessibility and comfort for players and visitors.
Most of the funding came from the FCC Communities Foundation, a not-for-profit organisation that supports local projects. Kettering Tennis Club also contributed approximately £7,500 towards the works, helping bring the upgrade to completion.
Community impact
Brian Benneyworth of North Northamptonshire Council, which led the project, said the improvements have provided "a real boost for residents in Kettering and the surrounding areas."
"We can now offer a higher quality tennis experience that will serve our community for years to come," said Christopher Todd, chair of Kettering Tennis Club. "This is more than just an investment in courts — it's an investment in community health, connection and the next generation of players."
Cheryl Raynor, grant manager at the FCC Communities Foundation, added: "We are always happy to consider grant applications for projects that make a meaningful difference, and we're thrilled to see this one come to life."
The upgraded courts are now open to the public and club members. An official opening event will take place in April 2026 as part of Kettering Tennis Club's annual open day, when residents and visitors will be invited to try the renewed facilities.
