Urgent Recall: Lior Ground Cinnamon (90g) Recalled After Maryland Finds Elevated Lead — Check UPC 794711005484

Cinnamon is a popular spice valued for flavor and potential health benefits, but one brand has been voluntarily recalled after state testing found elevated lead levels. Galil Importing Corp., based in Hauppauge, New York, has pulled specific jars of Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning from distribution until the issue is resolved.
Details of the Recall
The recall was initiated after the Maryland Department of Health (MDH) collected and tested a sample that showed elevated lead. Galil Importing immediately notified customers to stop selling and distributing the affected product and placed remaining inventory on hold.
Product: Lior Cinnamon Ground Seasoning (90 gram jars, sold in 6‑pack units)
UPC: 794711005484
Lot Code: GAP11304 (printed on the side of the container beneath the ingredient line)
Distribution: Retail stores, grocery stores, delis, and supermarkets in New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Texas, Florida, and Illinois

Health Risks
No illnesses have been reported to date. However, lead exposure can be harmful even at low levels and may not produce obvious symptoms. In many cases, an elevated blood lead level is the only sign of exposure.
According to the Mayo Clinic, acute or chronic exposure to higher lead levels can cause symptoms such as high blood pressure, joint and muscle pain, difficulties with memory or concentration, headaches, and abdominal pain. Children are particularly vulnerable: weeks to months of elevated lead exposure can lead to learning difficulties, developmental problems, and other long-term effects.
What Consumers Should Do
Galil Importing advises consumers not to consume the recalled product. Options include discarding the jars or returning them to the place of purchase for a refund. If you have questions, contact Galil Importing Corp. at (516) 496-7400, Monday–Friday, 9 a.m.–5 p.m. ET.
If you suspect you or a family member has been exposed to lead, especially a child or pregnant person, contact your healthcare provider for testing and guidance.
Reminder: Check pantry items and product labels for the UPC and lot code before using. When in doubt, do not consume the product.
