Elizabeth Holmes Says She’s 'Fighting to Prove' Her Innocence From Prison, Praises Partner and Announces '-EAH' Signature

Elizabeth Holmes, the former Theranos CEO, posted a personal message from federal custody on Sunday, Sept. 27, saying she is fighting to clear her name and return to her family.
In a message shared on her X account, the 42-year-old praised her partner, Billy Evans, for standing by her and helping manage her communications while she remains incarcerated. "I was silenced for a long time. And then imprisoned. I am fighting to prove my innocence and come home to my babies and the love of my life," she wrote.
"I have now been imprisoned for 1,216 endless days and nights... Billy is one of the people carrying that responsibility for me. He fights fiercely for me and our family. I love him beyond space and time."
Holmes and Evans are parents to two children: son William Holmes Evans (born July 2021) and daughter Invicta (born around February 2023). In the post, Holmes said that going forward she will mark posts written in her own words with the initials -EAH, and clarified that messages without that signature are published by the team that manages her account.
Holmes began serving an 11-year, 3-month sentence in May 2023 after a 2022 conviction on four counts related to defrauding investors in Theranos. Authorities have said part of her sentence was reduced for good behavior. Reporting from PEOPLE indicates she is expected to transfer from a minimum-security federal prison in Bryan, Texas, to a residential reentry center (halfway house) in Austin, Texas, in August 2027; she is still expected to remain in federal custody with a projected release date of Feb. 22, 2030, subject to change based on time served.
Holmes closed her message by thanking supporters and noting the comfort she draws from letters she receives. She quoted a Bible verse and reiterated her intention to continue contesting the charges and seeking to have the record set straight.
Ongoing Media Attention
Holmes’ story continues to attract coverage. A24 plans to release a documentary titled You Can See Everything, directed by Nathan Fielder, which reportedly includes unseen footage filmed before she reported to prison and is expected in October. Her rise and fall were previously dramatized in Hulu’s 2022 miniseries The Dropout, starring Amanda Seyfried; Holmes has said she found that dramatization difficult to watch.
In a separate interview with PEOPLE in February 2025 — her first since the fraud verdict — Holmes reiterated her innocence and described the emotional toll of separation from her children, calling her time behind bars "hell and torture."
