Gregory Daffron, 35, was arrested Sept. 22 after CSAM uploaded to a Google account was traced to his Jonesboro, Arkansas, residence. Police say investigators recovered 44 images and videos that may depict children as young as five and six.

In his booking photo Daffron wore a T-shirt referencing the politically charged "Gulf/Lake America" naming pushed by President Donald Trump. Judge Tommy Fowler set bond at $250,000, barred internet access, and said prosecutors may pursue well over 44 counts; Daffron's next hearing is Oct. 26.

Gregory Daffron, 35, of Jonesboro, Arkansas, was arrested on Sept. 22 after investigators traced child sexual abuse material (CSAM) uploaded to a Google account to a residence where he lives. Authorities say the probe began when the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) alerted the Jonesboro Police Department about content found on a Google account.

Google provided investigators with the account's IP address, an email address and a date of birth, information that led officers to Daffron's home, the department said.

In his booking photograph, Daffron is seen wearing a T-shirt that reads, "Lake America: Est. 2025. Fort Walton Beach, FL," a reference to the controversial renaming campaign promoted by President Donald Trump.

Allegations and Charges

Police allege Daffron uploaded 44 images of child sexual abuse material. A department detective told investigators that the evidence includes videos that reportedly depict sexual activity involving children as young as five and six years old. At a court hearing, Judge Tommy Fowler said Daffron could face more than 44 counts of possessing CSAM and that prosecutors may ultimately pursue more than 100 counts as the investigation continues.

"That's just what they have so far," Judge Fowler said, referring to the number of files identified to date.

Fowler set bond at $250,000 and ordered that Daffron not access the internet. His next court appearance is scheduled for Oct. 26. As with all defendants, Daffron is presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.

Context: The "Gulf/Lake America" Naming Controversy

In 2025, President Donald Trump issued executive orders directing federal agencies to refer to the Gulf of Mexico as the "Gulf of America" and Lake Ontario as "Lake America." The renaming efforts have been controversial and have not gained wide public acceptance, though companies including Apple and Google updated their mapping services to reflect the new labels.
