Florida Man Arrested Over Alleged AI-Generated Non‑Consensual Sexual Images

The Vero Beach Police Department says 37-year-old Peter Solomon Ruma has been arrested after investigators allege he used artificial intelligence to create and distribute sexually explicit images of women without their consent. Authorities say some of the altered images were generated using photographs obtained from social media and other online sources.

Investigation and Arrest

Police say the current charges stem from incidents involving one woman that allegedly took place between June and August 2026, but detectives identified several additional women who may have been targeted. Investigators also indicated they have information suggesting the activity may have occurred over multiple years, raising concerns that there could be additional victims who have not yet been identified or who are unaware altered images of them exist.

Searches and Forensic Evidence

As part of the probe, detectives executed search warrants at Ruma's Vero Beach residence and seized electronic devices. Forensic examinations of those devices reportedly recovered evidence investigators believe is connected to the creation and dissemination of altered sexual images.

Charges

Police obtained an arrest warrant charging Ruma with three counts of creation of an altered sexual depiction of an identifiable person (filed under Florida Statute 836.13(2)) and three counts of promotion of an altered sexual depiction of an identifiable person (Florida Statute 836.13(4)). He also faces one count of sexual cyberharassment (Florida Statute 784.049(3)(a)) and one count of stalking (Florida Statute 784.048(2)).

Ruma is being held at the Indian River County Sheriff's Office on a $1,000,000 bond, and police say additional charges could follow if investigators identify more victims or evidence.

The Vero Beach Police Department credited the woman whose report initially prompted the investigation for coming forward and thanked the Indian River County Sheriff's Office and the State Attorney's Office for their assistance. Detectives are asking anyone who believes they may have been victimized by Ruma, who received or viewed altered sexual images they suspect he created or distributed, or who has information that could aid the investigation to contact the department.
