Hard Mountain Dew offers $1M bounty to anyone who can prove Bigfoot is real

Hard Mountain Dew has launched the "Bigfoot Bounty," offering $1 million to anyone 21+ who can provide verified evidence that Bigfoot exists. The contest runs through Nov. 30 and requires submissions to meet verification standards developed with researcher Bryce Johnson, including at least four distinct types of supporting material. Acceptable evidence examples include footprints, thermal imaging, hair samples, audio recordings and photographs. If no entry claims the grand prize, 100 participants will receive a cash award equal to a 12-pack of Hard Mountain Dew.

Hard Mountain Dew has launched the "Bigfoot Bounty," a fall marketing promotion offering a $1 million prize to anyone who can provide verifiable proof that Bigfoot exists. The contest opened Wednesday, runs through Nov. 30, and is open to adults aged 21 and older.

How The Contest Works

Participants are asked to submit what the company calls "verified evidence" demonstrating the creature's existence. Hard Mountain Dew says it developed the contest's verification criteria with Bigfoot researcher Bryce Johnson, who has appeared in and produced a docuseries investigating reported sightings.

To be eligible for the $1 million grand prize, entrants must provide compelling documentation that satisfies the promotion's validation rules, which require at least four distinct types of supporting material.

Examples Of Acceptable Evidence

  • Alleged footprints or handprints
  • Thermal or infrared imaging
  • Hair samples or other physical trace evidence
  • Audio recordings of vocalizations or footsteps
  • Environmental indicators (disturbed vegetation, nests, or tracks)
  • Photographs or video footage that purport to show the creature

Entries will be evaluated against the standards developed with Johnson. Hard Mountain Dew also said that if no single submission meets the criteria for the grand prize, it will award a cash sum equivalent to the retail value of a 12-pack of Hard Mountain Dew to 100 entrants.

"Every fall, someone's got a story of a shape in the trees or a sound they can't explain. Whether you catch Bigfoot or just catch a good story trying, there's nothing better than an ice-cold Hard Mountain Dew at the end of the hunt," said Erica Taylor, senior brand director for Hard Mountain Dew.

Legends of a large, hairy, human-like forest dweller have circulated for centuries, especially across the Pacific Northwest. This promotion pairs pop-culture folklore with a seasonal brand activation designed to engage curious adults this autumn.
