McDonald's Monopoly Returns Nationwide Oct. 6 — $1 Million Top Prize, Free Food & Big Rewards

Remember peeling Monopoly pieces off McDonald's packaging and hoping for a jackpot? The promotion is back nationwide starting Oct. 6, offering prizes that range from free menu items to a $1 million top prize.

McDonald's first launched its Monopoly promotion in the 1980s as peel-off game pieces on select packaging. After a nine-year U.S. hiatus, the campaign returned in 2025 and will run again this fall on eligible menu items. Players use the McDonald's app to scan game pieces, redeem instant wins and play Chance Card games.

How to Play

Step 1: Download the McDonald's app, opt in to MyMcDonald's Rewards and register for the Monopoly game. Step 2: Buy an eligible item, peel the game piece and scan it in the app to redeem an instant prize, collect a property for a Collect-to-Win prize, or earn Chance Card plays. Registered users receive a bonus Chance Card play for each eligible item purchased through the app or by using a Rewards code at a kiosk, counter or drive-through through Nov. 1.

No purchase is required to request a game piece by mail; mail requests begin Sept. 22 and must be postmarked by Nov. 2. Making a purchase does not increase your odds of winning.

Prizes And Odds

The headline prize is $1 million, awarded as $50,000 per year for 20 years (no interest), per the official rules. Other cash prizes range from $25 up to $50,000 — including three $50,000 awards for home down payments and three $50,000 awards toward college debt.

Collect-to-Win grand prizes include Carnival Cruise Line vacation packages, trips to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex, 2027 Jeep Cherokees and a choice of three Polaris vehicles. Chance Card rewards can include gift cards (Grubhub, Uber Eats, Ulta Beauty), additional Jeep Cherokees and a “free McDonald's for a year” prize (delivered as a $1,040 McDonald's gift card).

Instant-win food items under game pieces include McChicken sandwiches, Snack Wraps, McGriddles, shakes, smoothies, small fries and other menu items, plus 1,500–7,000 MyMcDonald's Rewards points.

McDonald's lists the overall odds of winning any prize as 1 in 5, with most winning pieces awarding food. The company notes that prizes are removed from circulation as they are awarded, so odds may change during the promotion. Chance Card odds can also be affected by play behavior within the app.

Eligibility

The promotion is open to residents of all 50 states and Washington, D.C., who are 18 or older and who meet the game's registration requirements. See official rules in the app or on McDonald's site for full terms and conditions.
