Florida Woman Arrested After Throwing Glass Bottle of Vegan Mayonnaise at Driver

A Florida woman has been arrested and charged after deputies say she hurled a glass bottle of vegan mayonnaise at another driver during a road‑rage confrontation, striking the victim in the face and causing a cut beneath her eye.

What Happened

According to the Lee County Sheriff’s Office, Christine Sweet was riding in a vehicle on Corkscrew Road in August when that vehicle allegedly cut off another car. The traffic dispute escalated into shouting as the cars pulled alongside one another.

Deputies allege Sweet then produced and threw a glass bottle of vegan mayonnaise at the other driver, striking her directly in the face and causing a laceration beneath the eye. After the impact, Sweet is reported to have shouted, "I hit her in the face, go, go, go," as the vehicle drove away from the scene.

Investigation and Arrest

Investigators continued the probe and located the vehicle on Sept. 17 at San Carlos Plaza on South Tamiami Trail. Deputies made contact with Sweet at that location and placed her under arrest.

Charges

Booking records indicate Sweet faces several charges, including aggravated battery with a deadly weapon and throwing a weapon or missile into a dwelling, vehicle, building, or aircraft. Under Florida law, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon is a second‑degree felony; prosecutors also describe the missile charge as a second‑degree felony. Bond was listed as not set in the booking information.

Court Date and Presumption of Innocence

The case is scheduled for Circuit Court on Oct. 19 at 8:30 a.m. Sweet is presumed innocent unless and until proven guilty in a court of law.
