At least three people, including two children, were killed in a Russian strike on Kyiv's Fastiv district on Saturday evening, Ukrainian officials said.
Tymur Tkachenko, the Kyiv regional military governor, confirmed that a woman, a boy and a girl died in the attack.
"There are no words to express the pain of this loss. This is an irreparable tragedy," Tkachenko wrote on Telegram.
The Kyiv Independent, citing Ukraine's National Police, reported the victims included a woman and her 2-year-old son, and a 3-year-old girl. Authorities have not confirmed whether the girl was related to the woman.
Homes and a vehicle were damaged in the strike, officials said. Kyiv and its surrounding region have been repeatedly targeted since Russia's invasion began more than four and a half years ago, and air raid alerts have become increasingly frequent in recent days.
Context
The attack underscores the continuing danger faced by civilians in areas around the Ukrainian capital, where both routine life and emergency services are regularly disrupted by bombardment and alerts.
