Wichita Golf-Course Brawl Leaves Man With Severe Facial Injuries; Multiple Charges Filed

A violent altercation at the Arthur B. Sims Golf Course in Wichita left one man with extensive facial injuries and multiple people facing criminal charges.

What Happened

Around 6:20 p.m. on Friday, 52-year-old Scott Denning approached a group of three men to apologize after an errant golf shot landed near them. According to police, the conversation escalated into an argument and then a physical fight. Officers report Denning knocked a 38-year-old man unconscious and then pursued two other men, ages 28 and 52, who were allegedly armed with a golf club. Denning is accused of striking the 52-year-old with the club.

Injuries, Arrests and Charges

Despite the allegation that he struck another man, Denning sustained the most severe injuries to his face and was described by witnesses as looking seriously disfigured. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment and was later booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on Saturday morning. Denning faces multiple charges, including aggravated assault, aggravated battery, assault, battery and criminal damage; he remained in custody as of Tuesday.
