Chicago has long endured polar vortices, torrential summer storms, tornado alerts and periodic wildfire smoke. A new analysis from Singapore-based AI firm AlphaGeo now places the city at No. 1 on its Climate Risk & Resilience Index, which assessed 72 of the world’s largest cities.
How the Index Worked
AlphaGeo evaluated both exposure to physical hazards and each city's capacity to respond. The study compared risks such as inland and coastal flooding, heat stress, drought, wildfires and hurricane-force winds against local adaptation measures, infrastructure and resources.

Why Chicago Scored So Highly
