The IDF has issued a notice to demolish the home of Duas Hasson, accused of killing 18-year-old Yehuda Sherman in a March car-ramming in the West Bank. The notice, signed by Maj.-Gen. Avi Bluth, was first delivered to Hasson's family on Friday and confirmed by the military on Sunday. Hasson was indicted on May 14 on multiple charges including murder, obstruction and illegal weapons possession, and prosecutors have requested an extension of his pretrial detention. The IDF said no timetable for demolition was provided and legal procedures will determine next steps.

Tel Aviv — The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) Central Command chief, Maj.-Gen. Avi Bluth, signed a notice of intent to demolish the home of Duas Hasson, the Palestinian suspect accused of a March car-ramming attack that killed 18-year-old Yehuda Sherman, the military confirmed on Sunday.

The notice was first delivered to Hasson's family on Friday, the IDF said. The move follows a formal criminal indictment filed against Hasson on May 14.

According to military and court accounts, Hasson — a resident of the West Bank village of Beit Umrin — drove a pickup truck to a road near the village entrance after learning that Israeli settlers were approaching. When he encountered Sherman’s vehicle, prosecutors say Hasson intentionally rammed the rear of the car, causing it to plunge off a cliff. Sherman and another occupant were ejected; Sherman later died of his injuries and the other passenger was wounded.

Hasson was indicted on May 14 on charges that include murder in connection with Sherman’s death, two counts alleging he intentionally caused the deaths of others, obstruction of justice and possession of weapons without a permit. Prosecutors have asked a court to extend Hasson’s pretrial detention until legal proceedings conclude.

The IDF statement did not provide a timetable for the demolition, noting that issuing such notices is part of the military’s standard procedures in cases involving lethal attacks. Court review and legal procedures would follow before any demolition is carried out.

What Happens Next: The case will proceed through the Israeli legal system; prosecutors have requested extended detention while charges are adjudicated and any military administrative measures — such as the proposed demolition — require additional legal steps and possible appeals.
