A multiagency probe that began in January 2026 uncovered a clandestine meth lab in a remote part of Los Angeles County, resulting in the seizure of 1,378 pounds of methamphetamine valued at about $12.5 million. Investigators also recovered 20,000 fentanyl pills and around 20 pounds of meth in earlier related raids, plus roughly $80,000 in cash. Three Mexican nationals were arrested and face federal and state charges. Officials said the bust follows other major operations, including a Riverside County drug seizure and a $2 million Nike theft-ring takedown.

A months-long multiagency investigation into a Sinaloa Cartel drug trafficking network culminated in the discovery and seizure of a large clandestine methamphetamine lab in a remote area of Los Angeles County. Authorities say the operation recovered 1,378 pounds of methamphetamine — in both crystalline and condensed liquid forms — with an estimated street value of about $12.5 million.

The Los Angeles Port Police said the probe began in January 2026 and was led by the Drug Enforcement Administration's New York Field Division together with the DEA's Los Angeles High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area (HIDTA) Group 48. Multiple local law enforcement partners participated in the investigation over several months.

Timeline and Seizures

Over the course of the investigation, agents seized 20,000 fentanyl pills and roughly 20 pounds of methamphetamine during related operations. Subsequent ground surveillance, electronic monitoring and aerial reconnaissance led investigators to a clandestine laboratory in a sparsely populated desert area of Los Angeles County.

On July 28, federal and local authorities executed a search warrant at the site and recovered 1,378 pounds of methamphetamine and approximately $80,000 in cash. Three Mexican nationals were arrested and are expected to face federal and state charges related to narcotics production and distribution.

“These operations highlight the dedication, expertise, and collaborative strength of our Task Force Officers,” said Los Angeles Port Police Capt. Daniel Cobos. “Their work continues to make a measurable impact on regional safety, drug trafficking suppression, and protection of commercial supply chains.”

Broader Context

Officials noted this seizure follows other significant law-enforcement actions, including a separate drug bust in Riverside County and the dismantling of a theft ring accused of stealing more than $2 million in Nike merchandise. The coordinated effort underscores ongoing regional initiatives to disrupt large-scale trafficking organizations and protect local supply chains.

Authorities continue to investigate and have not released further details about the identities of those arrested or upcoming court dates. More information is expected as prosecutors file charges and the case proceeds.
