The Russian Defence Ministry said overnight missile and drone strikes hit Fire Point facilities near Kyiv, including a site that produces components and warheads for the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile. Moscow also claimed a fuel depot supplying Ukrainian forces was destroyed, but offered no evidence. Ukrainian officials confirmed three fatalities when a drone struck a home in Pukhivka and reported fires in Kyiv's Obolon district; independent verification of many claims remains limited.

The Russian Defence Ministry on Saturday reported that overnight missile and drone strikes hit facilities belonging to major Ukrainian arms manufacturer Fire Point on the outskirts of Kyiv.

Moscow said a production site that manufactures components and warheads for the FP-5 Flamingo cruise missile was struck during the raids. The ministry also claimed a fuel depot supplying Ukrainian forces was destroyed, but provided no independent evidence to support that assertion.

About Fire Point: The company is reported to produce the Flamingo FP-5 cruise missile as well as the FP-1 long-range drone and the FP-2 medium-range drone. Russian officials have blamed this family of weapons for strikes on Russian oil and other infrastructure this summer.

Ukrainian reports and casualties: Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko posted on Telegram about fires at oil tanks in the capital's Obolon district. Ukrainian sources said the attacks concentrated on the Brovary suburb, a hub for logistics centres. Authorities confirmed three people were killed — not in Brovary, but in the village of Pukhivka, where a drone struck a family's home.

Verification and Reporting

Claims about military or military-industrial targets made by the Russian military are often difficult to independently verify. Ukrainian reporting, meanwhile, typically emphasizes civilian damage and lists impacts on residential buildings, factories, shops and social facilities. Russian officials sometimes offer only vague descriptions, such as crashed drone debris at unspecified industrial sites, when major fires occur at facilities like refineries.

Context: With Western assistance, Ukraine has been resisting a full-scale Russian invasion since February 2022. Independent confirmation of specific strike targets and damage remains limited amid competing narratives from both sides.
