‘We Shot Our Wad!’ James Carville Unloads on Trump Over Iran War in Fiery Rant from Bed

James Carville sharply criticized U.S. leadership Wednesday, saying the country has "shot our wad" in the confrontation with Iran and warning that munitions are "dangerously, dangerously low." He said aircraft carriers and sailors are over-deployed and cited reports of parents of USS Abraham Lincoln crew members appealing to Congress over readiness. Carville also alleged senior officers are soliciting tactical ideas from sergeants and warned the U.S. may be "in the middle of losing a war." He called for candid acknowledgment of the situation and independent verification of the claims.

Veteran political strategist James Carville delivered a blistering critique Wednesday, saying the United States has "shot our wad" in the confrontation with Iran and warning that munitions and readiness are alarmingly low.

Carville's Assessment

On a Politicon appearance, Carville argued that U.S. ordnance — "that's ammo, okay" — is "dangerously, dangerously low" based on "bus counts, inventories, everything else." He placed responsibility squarely with presidential decisions: "You understand what happened? That's what the President of the United States did."

"All right, he shot our wad. Yeah, we shot our wad."

Carville said American forces are over-deployed and cited reports that parents of sailors aboard the aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln have appealed to members of Congress over conditions and readiness. He warned that carrier readiness has fallen and noted that, while the U.S. fields 11 aircraft carriers, other powers such as China do not field comparable carrier forces.

He also relayed an alarming claim that senior officers have been asking lower-ranking troops for tactical ideas: "The senior military people are going to sergeants and saying, 'You got any idea how we can do this battle? Because the shit ain't working right now.'" Carville cautioned, "We are in the middle of losing a war."

Carville called for national honesty about the state of readiness and criticized recent senior appointments in the military, contrasting praise for General Chris Donahue with Republican concerns about a newer Army Chief of Staff appointee's competence.

Note: These remarks reflect Carville's commentary and the reports he cited. Specific operational claims (such as conversations between senior officers and sergeants or quantified readiness shortfalls) are based on reported accounts and should be independently verified.
