Mexican authorities detained Iván Martín "N" in connection with the May 13, 2025, killing of influencer Valeria Márquez, who was shot while livestreaming from her Zapopan salon. The arrest was carried out by specialized prosecutors with support from the Mexican Army and National Guard, and followed the capture of Ramón Ángel "N" ("R1"), a suspected criminal-cell leader. Officials say evidence seized at a searched home is being analyzed and that Ricardo Ruiz Velasco ("El Doble R"), alleged to have ordered the attack, remains at large. Prosecutors have not yet filed formal charges beyond identifying Iván Martín "N" in the ongoing probe.
Suspect Arrested in 2025 Killing of Influencer Valeria Márquez; Authorities Cite Possible Cartel Link

Mexican authorities say they have detained Iván Martín "N," identified by prosecutors as an alleged co-perpetrator in the May 13, 2025, killing of influencer and model Valeria Márquez. The killing — carried out while Márquez was livestreaming on TikTok from the salon she owned in Zapopan — prompted widespread public outrage and renewed attention to gender-based violence, social media safety and organized-crime influence.
The Jalisco State Prosecutor's Office said the arrest took place during an operation led by the Specialized Prosecutor's Office for Crimes Against Women, Children and Adolescents, with support from the Mexican Army and the National Guard. Prosecutors allege Iván Martín "N" participated before, during and after the attack.
Evidence and Scene
Investigators say the gunmen fled the scene on a motorcycle and in a white vehicle. Authorities executed a search warrant at a residence in the San Juan de Ocotán neighborhood of Zapopan, seizing two firearms, several mobile phones and identity documents, according to local reporting from Grupo Animal México. Those items are now part of the ongoing forensic investigation.
Links to Organized Crime
The arrest follows the recent capture of Ramón Ángel "N," known as "R1," whom officials describe as the leader of Los Rs, a criminal cell tied to the Jalisco New Generation Cartel. Officials said R1's detention yielded new investigative leads in Márquez's case.
"The son of R1 had a romantic relationship with Valeria. He had threatened her on several occasions, and everything indicates — this will be proven — that he asked his father, R1, to carry out the femicide," Mexican Secretary of Security and Citizen Protection Omar García Harfuch said during President Claudia Sheinbaum's daily news briefing.
Authorities have identified Ricardo Ruiz Velasco, nicknamed "El Doble R" or "RR," as a person of interest and say he remains at large. Prosecutors stressed that their investigation into Márquez's death is separate from the probe into the murder of former Uruapan Mayor Carlos Manzo, even as arrests in one case provide leads in the other.
As of the arrest announcement, prosecutors have not publicly filed formal charges against Iván Martín "N" beyond identifying him as an alleged co-perpetrator in the ongoing investigation. The office said that further legal steps and evidence presentation will follow as the investigation and forensic analysis continue.
Context: Márquez, 23, was a beauty influencer and entrepreneur who built a large online following. The widely shared video of the attack has intensified calls in Mexico for better protections for women and for measures addressing violent crime and the intersection of social media and personal safety.
