Uniqlo Pledges €1 Million and 50,000 Garments to Support Wildfire Relief in France
Uniqlo Donates 1 Million Euros to Support Wildfire Recovery Efforts in France

Uniqlo is donating €1 million and 50,000 garments to help communities hit by severe wildfires in the Gironde and Var regions. Funds will be shared between Secours Populaire Français and Sud-Ouest Solidarité to provide emergency aid and buy firefighting equipment, including robots, drones and medical vehicles. The retailer will also run a nationwide in-store fundraising campaign for the French Red Cross and will match customer donations to support firefighting and urgent humanitarian needs.

PARIS — Uniqlo will donate €1 million in cash and 50,000 garments to assist communities affected by the severe wildfires sweeping the Gironde and Var regions in southern France. The company said the contribution is intended to provide immediate relief to displaced residents and support firefighting and recovery efforts amid one of the country’s worst recent fire seasons.

The financial pledge will be split between Secours Populaire Français, which is providing emergency aid to displaced families, and Sud-Ouest Solidarité, which will use funds to equip firefighting teams with new resources, including remotely operated firefighting robots, reconnaissance drones and medical response vehicles. Uniqlo also plans to distribute the 50,000 garments directly to people impacted by the blazes.

Across all Uniqlo stores in France the retailer will run an in-store fundraising campaign for the French Red Cross. Customer donations will be matched by Uniqlo, and the combined proceeds will be directed to immediate firefighting operations and the most urgent humanitarian needs in the affected areas.

“The images and stories coming from the Bordeaux region and the Var are deeply heartbreaking,” said Uniqlo France CEO Yuki Yamada. “Our thoughts are with everyone affected by these devastating wildfires, as well as the firefighters, volunteers, and local organizations working tirelessly day and night to protect people and communities.”

The announcement comes as thousands of residents have been forced to evacuate and large swaths of forest have been destroyed, placing heavy strain on emergency services in southern France. Uniqlo said its combined financial donation, clothing contribution and nationwide fundraising drive are intended to provide both immediate relief and longer-term support for residents and first responders.

Uniqlo noted this effort continues the company’s broader disaster-response work: the group has previously provided cash assistance, clothing donations and follow-up support to communities affected by emergencies around the world. The company said it remains in close contact with local organizations to identify priority needs and to determine whether additional aid will be required in the coming weeks.

This effort follows other Uniqlo humanitarian initiatives, including a €100,000 commitment to the Displacement Film Fund announced at the Cannes Film Festival last year to support refugee filmmakers and bring stories of displacement to international audiences.
