The Lahav 433 economic-crime unit and the Justice Ministry's insolvency enforcement unit launched a joint probe that led to the detention of a contractor and several businesspeople on suspicion of hiding real-estate interests and moving assets during bankruptcy proceedings.

Police say one person questioned is close to senior Likud circles and allege the contractor, in bankruptcy since 2012, concealed properties worth tens of millions of shekels and transferred assets in violation of disclosure rules.

Property was seized and may be forfeited as the investigation continues; no formal charges have been announced.

The Lahav 433 National Economic Crime Unit and the Justice Ministry's Insolvency Enforcement Unit have opened a joint investigation into alleged concealment of assets, Israel Police said.

On Monday, police detained a contractor and several other businesspeople for questioning on suspicion that they hid real-estate interests and transferred assets during ongoing bankruptcy proceedings. Authorities say one of the people questioned is regarded as close to senior circles in the Likud party.

Allegations and Seizures

According to investigators, the contractor — who has been in bankruptcy proceedings since 2012 — is alleged to have concealed rights to properties valued at tens of millions of shekels and to have transferred assets under his control in breach of disclosure obligations. Police say the suspects acted systematically to hide their interests from the authorities.

Property was seized during the operation; those assets may be subject to forfeiture as the legal process continues. No charges have been announced and the inquiries remain ongoing.

Ongoing Inquiry

The probe is being conducted jointly by Lahav 433 and the Justice Ministry's insolvency enforcement unit. Authorities described the matter as active and said further developments may follow as investigators review seized materials and interview witnesses.

Note: The persons detained are suspects; the allegations have not been proven in court. This is a developing story.
