The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department says 67-year-old Zhengfeng Bo and 66-year-old Jianquan Bo allegedly kidnapped and killed 60-year-old Shukur Aikebaer in Chino Hills on July 29. The men had previously worked together in real estate and were partners in at least two LLCs involved in lawsuits, including a dispute over a $20 million Pasadena apartment complex. Deputies pursued the suspects after reports of gunfire; the driver allegedly fired into the car's trunk where the victim was being held, and a deputy fatally shot Zhengfeng. Jianquan was arrested and charged with murder and kidnapping and is being held without bail while detectives probe a reported power outage that preceded the attack.

A California real estate dispute turned deadly on July 29 in Chino Hills, where authorities say two men allegedly abducted and fatally shot a former business associate. The San Bernardino County Sheriff's Department identified the victim as 60-year-old Shukur Aikebaer and the suspects as 67-year-old Zhengfeng Bo and his relative, 66-year-old Jianquan Bo.

Working Relationship and Legal Disputes

According to public records and local reporting, Aikebaer and Zhengfeng had worked together in commercial real estate and were partners in at least two limited liability companies that are currently involved in lawsuits. Documents show Zhengfeng was listed as chief executive officer of a commercial real estate firm, while Aikebaer was listed as chief financial officer and secretary. One dispute referenced by Zhengfeng's attorney involves a roughly $20 million apartment complex in Pasadena; Zhengfeng has sued the former managers, alleging they would not allow him to assume control of the property.

Incident and Investigation

Homicide detectives say the events began after Aikebaer's home reportedly experienced a power outage. When Aikebaer stepped outside to inspect his electrical panel, investigators allege he was shot and abducted by Zhengfeng and Jianquan. Deputies responded to reports of gunfire and a person yelling for help and located a vehicle driven by Zhengfeng.

Officials say the driver led deputies on a short pursuit that ended on Wandering Ridge Drive. Deputies ordered both occupants out of the car. Jianquan complied and was taken into custody; the driver did not. Investigators say the driver approached the open trunk and fired into it, where Aikebaer had been held. Aikebaer was later found fatally wounded in the trunk.

In the confrontation, a deputy shot and fatally wounded Zhengfeng at the scene. Jianquan was arrested, booked on murder and kidnapping charges, and is being held without bail. Detectives continue to investigate the circumstances of the power outage and the broader sequence of events that led to the killing.

Reactions

Zhengfeng's attorney, Michael Chen, told reporters he was stunned by the alleged actions, describing Zhengfeng as "a very reasonable person" and saying he had "never seen this side of him." Chen also confirmed the two suspects are relatives.
