The Bristol World Naked Bike Ride returns on 15 August, departing the Pump House in Hotwells at 12:30 BST (arrival from 11:30 BST). Dozens are expected to join the six-and-a-half-mile route, which includes planned stops and ride marshals to maintain safety. The event is both a celebration of cycling and a protest to highlight cyclist vulnerability; the dress code is 'as bare as you dare' and full nudity is not mandatory.

Dozens of riders are preparing to take part in the Bristol chapter of the World Naked Bike Ride (WNBR) on 15 August to draw attention to what organisers describe as the 'fragility of cyclists on the road'. The event is meant as both a celebration of cycling and the human body and a protest for improved cyclist safety.

When: 15 August — participants asked to arrive from 11:30 BST for a 12:30 BST departure. Where: The ride will start and finish at the Pump House in Hotwells.

The six-and-a-half-mile route will include several planned stops and will be overseen by ride marshals to help direct riders and maintain safety throughout the event. Organisers emphasise that riders do not have to be fully naked; the dress code is described as 'as bare as you dare.'

A WNBR spokesperson said:

'It's sobering to see a hundred or more cyclists streaming past and realise that's just one year's UK cycling death toll.'

Ole Rudd, an organiser for the WNBR series, said the ride also aims to promote responsibility among all road users. He added:

'It's not just motorists paying attention to cyclists. Cyclists have to be responsible as well. If you notice us when we've got our clothes off, then please just bear in mind to look out for cyclists when we've got our clothes on.'

Participants are encouraged to follow marshals' directions and prioritise safety for everyone involved. For more information, riders can check local WNBR channels or contact the event organisers directly.
