Hunter Biden mockingly announced on X that he would nominate Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize after noting, by CNN’s count, that Trump claimed to have “ended” the Iran war roughly 38 times. The remark comes amid a recent surge of pointed posts from Hunter and ongoing debate over the scope of U.S. operations in Iran. Since Feb. 28, U.S. and Israeli strikes have killed thousands, including at least 1,400 civilians, according to the BBC, and a strike on a Minab school reportedly killed 168 people. The post mixes satire and political critique as the conflict and public statements remain contentious.

Hunter Biden mockingly said he planned to nominate former President Donald Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize after poking fun at Trump’s repeated public assertions that he has “ended” the war with Iran.

On July 2, the 56-year-old son of President Joe Biden posted on X: “No President in History has ended the same war so many times,” adding that, by CNN’s count, Trump has declared he ended the Iran war “at least 38 times.” He concluded with a tongue-in-cheek appeal to the Nobel committee, borrowing Trump’s characteristic sign-off: “It’s a record worthy of the Nobel committee’s recognition. Thank you for your attention to this matter!”

Context And Reactions

Hunter’s post is part of a recent flurry of commentary since he returned to X in late May. His frequent, often acerbic messages have mixed satire and serious critique, prompting speculation about whether he might seek a larger political role and whether some posts could be aided by artificial intelligence. People magazine contacted Hunter in June about the posts but did not receive a response.

Trump’s public descriptions of the conflict with Iran have varied since U.S. and Israeli strikes began on Feb. 28. A temporary ceasefire was reached in June, but U.S. forces have continued intermittent strikes in the weeks afterward. Trump has at times framed operations as a military success and at other times described them as a necessary “detour” or limited military action rather than a formal war.

Human Toll And Investigation

The fighting has carried a heavy civilian toll. According to the BBC, thousands have been killed since Feb. 28, including at least 1,400 civilians and hundreds of children. On the first day of the conflict, a strike on a school in Minab reportedly killed at least 168 people, including 110 schoolchildren. The U.S. military says it is investigating that strike but has not confirmed whether a U.S. weapon was responsible.

“I don’t know that they’re ever going to solve that problem in terms of whose fault was it, because there were missiles flying all over the place,” Trump said on June 24, acknowledging uncertainty about responsibility for the Minab strike.

Political Notes

Donald Trump has not won a Nobel Peace Prize, though Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu nominated him in the past. María Corina Machado, the 2025 Peace Prize laureate from Venezuela, publicly gifted her award to Trump after a viral moment in which he complained about not receiving the Nobel. Separately, some outlets reported Trump received a newly created FIFA Peace Prize in December 2025 ahead of the 2026 World Cup.

Hunter Biden’s post serves as both satire and a political jab, highlighting how the Iran conflict and public debate over its scope and successes continue to be prominent in U.S. political discourse.
