The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced on Friday that recent operations in southern Lebanon have eliminated more than 10 Hezbollah field commanders and several designated successors, the military said.
Named Commanders Reported Killed
- Hajj Salameh, commander of Hezbollah’s Nasser Unit; two men identified as his replacements — Mahdi Bazzi and Ashraf Salloum — were later reported killed.
- Nasser Shaqir, commander of the Shaqif Sector, and his successor Ahmad Sablini were reported killed within roughly twelve hours of one another.
- Other commanders named by the IDF include: Ali Abbas (Bint Jbeil), Kamil Younes (Tyre), Fuad Moussa (Hajir), Hussein Salami (Jibshit), Ali Khayekh (al-Khiam) and Musallam Harb (Qana).
The IDF said these strikes targeted individuals it describes as central figures in planning or carrying out attacks against the State of Israel and IDF personnel. The military added it will continue to target senior operational figures it regards as threats to its forces.
Other Reported Strikes
Also on Friday, the IDF reported destroying five Hezbollah rocket launchers used to fire at Israeli troops in southern Lebanon, including one vehicle-mounted launcher. It said precision strikes also hit a Hezbollah command center and fighters operating near IDF soldiers.
