Northern Israel experienced renewed rocket fire from Lebanon on Sunday, and the Iron Dome intercepted two projectiles with no reported casualties. Rocket alerts were issued in Jiftach and Ramot Naftali. The flare-up follows a failed ceasefire attempt after Hezbollah rejected terms and an Iran-backed militia launched fresh attacks, prompting reported Israeli strikes in Lebanon.

Northern Israel came under renewed rocket fire from Lebanon on Sunday, the Israeli army said, with its Iron Dome air-defence system intercepting two projectiles that crossed into Israeli territory.

Rocket alerts sounded in the communities of Jiftach and Ramot Naftali. There were no immediate reports of casualties or significant damage.

Background: In recent days Israel and Lebanon had reached a fresh agreement to attempt implementation of a ceasefire, but the effort has so far proved largely ineffective. Hezbollah rejected the agreed terms, and shortly afterwards an Iran-backed militia launched new attacks across the border, according to Israeli sources.

By Thursday morning, multiple Israeli strikes inside Lebanon were reported. The Lebanese government is not a party to the fighting and has limited influence over Hezbollah; the militia was not part of the ceasefire negotiations.

The situation remains fluid. Cross-border exchanges continue to raise concern for civilian safety on both sides and risk further escalation.
