A new biography by Tom Bower quotes Queen Camilla as saying "Meghan's brainwashed Harry," prompting a forceful rebuttal from Harry and Meghan's spokesperson who called the book a "deranged conspiracy." Extracts in The Times claim tensions with senior royals began soon after the couple's 2018 wedding and note Harry has rarely seen his father, King Charles. The book also links Harry's anxieties to Prince Andrew's fall amid the Epstein scandal. Buckingham Palace and William's representatives declined or had no immediate comment.

LONDON, March 14 (Reuters) — A new biography of Prince Harry by veteran royal author Tom Bower has provoked a sharp response from the couple's spokesperson after extracts published in The Times attributed a remark to Queen Camilla that "Meghan's brainwashed Harry." The spokesperson described the book as a "deranged conspiracy."

Book Extracts and Allegations

According to the passages published, Bower argues that tensions between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex and other senior royals began soon after Harry and Meghan's high-profile 2018 wedding. The extracts say the couple are now "barely on speaking terms" with other family members and that Harry has seen his father, King Charles, only rarely in recent years.

The author also reports that Prince William and his wife, Kate, were worried by Meghan's influence on Harry and viewed her as a potential threat to family cohesion. Bower's book further references the downfall of Prince Andrew — who lost titles and was removed from his residence following his links to the late convicted U.S. sex offender Jeffrey Epstein — and says Harry feared he might face similar ostracism.

Strong Rebuttal From Harry And Meghan's Team

"Those interested in facts will look elsewhere; those seeking deranged conspiracy and melodrama know exactly where to find him," the couple's spokesperson said, adding that Bower's commentary had "long crossed the line from criticism into fixation."

In response, Buckingham Palace declined to comment on behalf of King Charles and Queen Camilla. There was no immediate response from representatives of Prince William and Kate.

Why It Matters

The book arrives amid ongoing public fascination with the Sussexes since they stepped back from official royal duties in 2020 and relocated to California. Claims and counterclaims in high-profile royal biographies often shape public debate about the monarchy and the private lives of its members.
