Madison Bergmann, 26, pleaded guilty to one count of child enticement and two counts of sexual misconduct and was sentenced on Dec. 19 to six years in prison followed by six years of supervision. Authorities say she exchanged thousands of texts with an 11-year-old student and left roughly 100 handwritten notes and pieces of artwork. Bergmann apologized in court and accepted responsibility, while the victim's father called the messages "disturbing stuff." Local outlets KARE 11, WQOW, WEAU and PEOPLE reported the case.

Madison Bergmann, 26, an elementary school teacher in Wisconsin, was sentenced on Dec. 19 to six years of confinement followed by six years of supervised release after pleading guilty to one count of child enticement and two counts of sexual misconduct, according to reporting from KARE 11, WQOW, WEAU and PEOPLE.

Investigators say Bergmann exchanged thousands of text messages with an 11-year-old student. Some of those messages explicitly referenced sexual contact; authorities reported texts in which Bergmann wrote that she enjoyed 'making out' with the child and that she liked when he touched her. Searches of her belongings reportedly turned up about 100 handwritten notes and pieces of artwork connected to the student.

'Dude I love you so much more — like I didn't think it was possible — but oh my god today during reading....'

According to local news coverage, Bergmann pleaded guilty as part of a plea agreement that reduced the charges she faced. Prosecutors had sought a 12-year sentence, while Bergmann's defense asked the judge to impose a one-year term. Video of the sentencing aired by KARE 11 showed Bergmann apologizing and becoming visibly emotional as she addressed the court.

"I want to make it absolutely clear that I take full accountability for every boundary that was crossed," she said through tears, according to the broadcast. The victim's father also spoke at the hearing and described the texts as "disturbing stuff." Court records and media reports outline the timeline and scope of the communications between Bergmann and the child.

Case Notes: Bergmann was 26 at sentencing; the victim was 11. The combined sentence includes a period of confinement and a subsequent term of supervised release intended to monitor conduct after prison.
