SpaceX Launch Alert: Falcon 9 Set To Lift Off From Cape Canaveral Dec. 11 With 29 Starlink Satellites

SpaceX plans a Falcon 9 launch from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral on Thursday, Dec. 11, with liftoff no earlier than 1:59 p.m. ET. The rocket will carry 29 Starlink internet satellites and aims to recover its booster on a drone ship in the Atlantic. The 45th Weather Squadron reported better-than-95% odds of favorable weather as of Dec. 10, and the launch window remains open until 5:59 p.m. ET. Florida Today will stream live updates starting about 90 minutes before liftoff.

SpaceX is scheduled to launch a Falcon 9 rocket from Cape Canaveral on Thursday, Dec. 11. The mission will carry 29 additional Starlink internet satellites and is planned to liftoff no earlier than 1:59 p.m. ET from Launch Complex 40 at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station.

Launch Window and Weather

The launch window remains open until 5:59 p.m. ET to accommodate any technical or weather-related delays. As of Dec. 10, the U.S. Space Force 45th Weather Squadron forecasted a greater-than-95% chance of favorable conditions for the attempt.

Flight Profile and Booster Recovery

After liftoff, the Falcon 9 will head southeast from the Cape. This mission is expected to recover its first-stage booster on a SpaceX drone ship in the Atlantic Ocean. Because the booster is not planned to return over land, Space Coast residents should not expect sonic booms like those heard during a recent launch that returned its booster to the Cape.

Context and Coverage

This flight follows a recent launch from the same pad that carried the classified NROL-77 national security payload. Florida Today’s space team will provide live updates starting roughly 90 minutes before liftoff at FloridaToday.com/Space.
